LGBTQ+: What’s This Queer Stuff All About?

(On Site Registration Available)

This session will discuss each of the letters in the acronym and provide counselors with strategies for ethically providing services for persons representing each of those letters. The presenter will also discuss intersectionality or the intersection of sexuality/gender expression/sexual expression and race/ethnicity.


  • Participants will learn about the identities that comprise the Queer umbrella  a)Terms and Terminology will be discussed  b) Intersectionality will be discussed
  • Participants will be guided through the ethical principles that govern our work with members of the LGBTQQIA community
  • Participants will learn strategies for working with members of the LGBTQQIA community.

$25 for PWRCA Members

$35 for Non-members

(2.0 NBCC continuing education ethics hours are available for this workshop)


Virginia Counselors Association has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 2047.  Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified.  Virginia Counselors Association is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

Cancellation PolicyTo receive a full refund, minus a $10 administrative fee, registrants must cancel at least 5 days prior to the start of the workshop.  Cancellations and/or no shows with less than a 5 day notice will be reviewed after all expenses have been paid, a determination will be made regarding the ability to honor the request minus cost of guaranteed special event fees, plus a $10 administrative fee.
