Assessing and Addressing Self-Injurious Behavior and Other Risk Factors

(2.0 NBCC Continuing Education Hours are available for this workshop)

Learn how to assess for severity of harmful or risky behaviors, specific strategies for discussing these behaviors, documenting and providing resources for the client or student, as well as how to collaborate with other stakeholders for continuity of care.  She will discuss ethical and legal responsibilities of the counselor, and provide resources and facilitate interactive breakout sessions.  Dr. Band has worked in the mental Health field for 8 years.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will learn to assess for severity of harmful or risky behaviors.
  • Participants will learn specific strategies for discussing self-injurious behaviors.
  • Participants will learn how to document and provide resources for a self-injurious client or student.
  • Participants will learn how to collaborate with other stakeholders for continuity of care.
  • Participants will discuss ethical and legal responsibilities regarding self-injurious client behavior.

 

 

Virginia Counselors Association has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 2047.  Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified.  Virginia Counselors Association is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

Cancellation PolicyTo receive a full refund, minus a $10 administrative fee, registrants must cancel at least 5 days prior to the start of the workshop.  Cancellations and/or no shows with less than a 5 day notice will be reviewed after all expenses have been paid, a determination will be made regarding the ability to honor the request minus cost of guaranteed special event fees, plus a $10 administrative fee.
