RACA Talks:  MEN to HEAL (MENtal HEALth)

Presented by James Harris, MEd, MA

The specific RACA Talks will focus on Men and the difference in seeking services in relations to women seeking services for health (mental and physical). This will also highlight how it impacts the clients that we work with in the community and schools. The disparities in men and avoiding treatment is displayed in numerous ways, this will inform people on some of the effects of ignoring the need to address health, and development. Within this study men took a survey as well as attend my quarterly forums voicing their reasons on why they fall short. Women also attend on behalf of their sons, fathers and husbands. I will also have a dialogue about addressing ending stigma, trauma, depression and aggressive behaviors, healing relationships, and educating men on there is no such thing as a famine diagnosis.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Common responses to the impact of men not addressing needs: emotional, cognitive, physical, spiritual, behavioral
  2. The need to breaking the cycles of ego and challenge society view of manhood
  3. Undiagnosed men intervention for individuals, communities, and societies
  4. Self-care for men, caregivers and support to the men who still ignore issues
